Healing Process

The time period necessary for implants to bond to the underlying jawbone is determined by the body’s healing ability. In most cases the anticipated healing period takes at least 3 months prior to placing the laboratory-crafted prosthetic (process overseen by your restoring dentist). This ensures that the foundation for the prosthetic is stabilized, improving the success rate for the procedure.
The recovery period typically involves very little discomfort, but if necessary, Dr. Gray will prescribe or recommend analgesic pain medication to minimize the discomfort.
Once the implants are in place, they will serve you well for many years if you take care of them and keep your mouth healthy. This means taking the time for good oral hygiene, brushing, flossing, and regular appointments with your dentist.
