Facial Trauma
What Is Facial Trauma?
Our doctors and staff understand that in the aftermath of an accident resulting in trauma you need the calm expertise of skilled experience in diagnosing and restoring you to health. Dr. William Gray also understands that the gentle confidence of skilled treatment can itself be an essential part of the healing process.
At St. Louis South Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, Dr. William Gray is highly skilled, trained, and experienced in managing and treating facial trauma. Our office provides emergency care and follows up examination for the following conditions:
- Facial lacerations
- Intra oral lacerations
- Avulsed (removed by force) teeth
- Fractured facial bones (cheek, nose or eye socket)
- Fractured jaws (of the upper maxilla, and the lower mandibular regions)
When a patient experiences an injury to the face, it can be an emotionally stressful period for the patient as well as for the patient’s family. Our surgeons are trained in addressing facial trauma treatment options focusing on the optimal long term restoration of functionality and appearance.
Facial trauma commonly results from:
- Motor vehicle accidents
- Sports injuries
- Accidental falls
- Physical altercations
- Work-related injuries
Most injuries can be treated in our office, avoiding costly emergency room visits. However, as staff members of area hospitals, they are able to utilize well equipped medical center facilities when more extensive care and treatment options are indicated. Our oral surgeons will administer sedation techniques to accommodate your comfort level during treatment, and our Cone Beam 3D radiography equipment is capable of rendering sharp, definitive state-of-the-art diagnostic imagery, essential in the immediacy of trauma cases. Steady focused expertise in trauma cases is developed through experience over time. Both of our doctors exemplify the confident skill to seek optimal restoration for their trauma patients, and again, both doctors understand that the gentle confidence of skilled treatment can itself serve as an essential factor in the healing process.
