What Types of Prosthesis are Available?
A dental prosthesis is secured to one or more implants. You may have a single, partial, or complete prosthesis, depending on how many teeth you are missing. The permanent prosthesis is not made until the jawbone has fused to the implant. Until then, a temporary prosthesis may be used.
Types of Prosthesis:
Single Prosthesis—used to replace a single missing tooth. One implant is all that is needed for support.
Fixed Partial Prosthesis—replaces two or more teeth. Two or more implants are used for support.
Complete Denture Prosthesis—replaces all the teeth in an upper or lower jaw or both. The number of implants needed will be determined by your oral surgeon.
